How to Download Gujarat Caste Certificate PDF / જાતિ પ્રમાણપત્ર ડાઉનલોડ (Digital Gujarat)
Once your SC, ST, or SEBC (Baxi Panch / બક્ષી પંચ) caste certificate application is verified by the Talati-cum-Mantri and approved by the Mamlatdar or Taluka Development Officer (TDO), an official digitally signed PDF is generated. Learn how to download and print your original certificate from Digital Gujarat (digitalgujarat.gov.in) or sync it to DigiLocker.
Your digital certificate is generated only after your local Talati completes the roobroo panchnama, the Nayab Mamlatdar scrutinizes your ancestral cut-off records (pre-1978 for SEBC or pre-1950 for SC/ST), and the Mamlatdar applies their official Digital Signature Certificate (DSC token). If your application status still says “Under Scrutiny” or “Pending Talati Report”, wait until the status updates to “Approved” (મંજૂર થયેલ).
Method 1: Direct Download via Digital Gujarat Dashboard
Visit digitalgujarat.gov.in and sign in with your mobile number / email and password.
On your citizen dashboard, review your application history. Locate your Application Number under the Revenue or Social Justice service list.
When the status reflects “Approved” (મંજૂર થયેલ), a green certificate icon appears under the Action column. Click this icon to download the high-resolution, colored PDF directly to your mobile or computer.
Method 2: Pull into DigiLocker App (Permanent Cloud Storage)
The Government of Gujarat is integrated with the National DigiLocker ecosystem, enabling citizens to fetch verified digital certificates anytime:
- Open the DigiLocker website or mobile app and log in using your Aadhaar-linked mobile number.
- Go to Search Documents and type “Revenue Department, Gujarat” or “Social Justice and Empowerment Department, Gujarat”.
- Select Caste Certificate or Non-Creamy Layer Certificate from the service list.
- Enter your Application Number as printed on your Digital Gujarat receipt.
- Click “Get Document”. DigiLocker pulls the digitally signed PDF directly from Gujarat state repositories.
- The fetched document holds equal legal validity to an original physical certificate under Rule 9A of the Information Technology Rules, 2016.
Legal Validity of QR-Coded Certificates Without Physical Stamp
Pursuant to Government Resolutions issued by the General Administration and Revenue Departments of Gujarat, certificates bearing an encrypted 2D QR barcode and cryptographic Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) of the Mamlatdar or TDO are 100% legally valid across India. No educational institution (ACPC, GUJCET, universities) or recruiting agency (GPSC, GSSSB, Gujarat Police Bharti Board) can demand a physical red-ink seal or manual signature. Any authority can scan the QR code using a smartphone camera to verify the certificate directly against Gujarat government servers.
How to Validate the Digital Signature (? vs Green Checkmark)
When you open your downloaded Gujarat caste certificate PDF in Adobe Acrobat Reader, you may see a yellow question mark (?) stating “Validity Unknown”. This is purely a local PDF viewer configuration issue, not a defect in your certificate:
- Right-click on the signature box displaying the question mark and click “Show Signature Properties”.
- Click on “Show Signer's Certificate”.
- Navigate to the “Trust” tab and select “Add to Trusted Certificates”.
- Check the option for “Certified documents” and click OK.
- Click “Validate Signature”. The yellow question mark will turn into a green checkmark (✔ Signature Valid).
Important Distinction: SEBC Caste Certificate vs Parishisht-K Non-Creamy Layer
If you belong to an SEBC (Baxi Panch) community, downloading only your Caste Certificate (Parishisht-A) is not sufficient for claiming reservation in GPSC, GSSSB, or ACPC admissions. You must separately download your Non-Creamy Layer Certificate (Parishisht-K / પરિશિષ્ટ-ક), which certifies that your family income is under ₹8 Lakh. The Parishisht-K certificate is valid for 3 financial years from the year of issuance.
Troubleshooting Common Download Problems
This occurs when the Mamlatdar has approved the application on their console, but the cryptographic USB token server has not completed batch signing. Re-check the portal after 24 to 48 hours; the button activates automatically once signing concludes.
If your downloaded PDF displays a draft watermark across the background, the document is awaiting final DSC authorization. Do not submit draft versions to colleges or recruiters; wait for the final clean signed version.
