Real-Time Application Tracking

How to Check West Bengal Caste Certificate Status Online / জাতি শংসাপত্র স্ট্যাটাস (castcertificatewb.gov.in)

Applicants in West Bengal can track the real-time processing status of their SC, ST, or OBC caste certificate (Jati Shongsapatra / জাতি শংসাপত্র) online without needing an account or login password. All you need is your unique Application Number generated during online submission or received at the Duare Sarkar camp.

How to Track Your Application Status in 3 Simple Steps

Step 1: Visit the Official Status Portal

Go to castcertificatewb.gov.in and hover over or click on Applicant > Application Check (or “Check Status”).

Step 2: Enter Your Application Number

Type in your complete Application Number exactly as printed on your Acknowledgment Slip (e.g., district and serial code format).

Step 3: Click Search to View Live Stage

Click the “Search” button. The screen displays your application date, applicant name, applying category, current desk location (BDO/SDO), and final verdict.

What Does Your Status Message Mean?

Application Submitted / Under Scrutiny

Your application has been received into the system. The local Block Development Office (BDO) or Municipality BCW cell is reviewing the uploaded information against your submitted hardcopy papers.

Enquiry / Hearing Scheduled

Applicable if no paternal blood relation certificate was provided. An inquiry officer has been assigned to verify local residence prior to 1950 (SC/ST) or 1993 (OBC), and you may be called to present original documents.

Recommended to SDO / DWO for Approval

The BDO / Municipality inquiry report is favorable and has been forwarded to the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) — or to the DWO Kolkata (Joint Director BCW) at Bikash Bhavan for KMC Kolkata residents — for final digital signing (DSC).

Approved / Ready for Download

Your caste certificate has been approved and digitally signed. You can now download the PDF directly using the certificate number or application number. If it displays “Digital Signature Pending”, wait 24 to 48 hours for the SDO to execute the cryptographic USB token batch signing.

What to Do If Your Application Status Is Delayed Beyond 30 Days?

If your application remains pending beyond the statutory delivery period:

  • Visit the BDO BCW Cell: Take your original Acknowledgment Slip to the Backward Classes Welfare section of your local BDO office or municipal office to check if any document clarification or Bongshobrikkho correction is pending.
  • Duare Sarkar Grievance Counter: During active Duare Sarkar camps, visit the grievance desk to fast-track pending verification files.
  • Department Helpline: Contact the state toll-free helpline at 1800-345-0117 or email [email protected] with your Application Number.
