Documents Required for Madhya Pradesh Caste Certificate (Full 2026 Checklist)
Before starting your application on mpedistrict.gov.in or visiting your local Lok Seva Kendra, keeping clear scans of your documents ready will prevent upload errors and ensure smooth processing by the Halka Patwari and Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO).
Mandatory Documents Checklist:
Active 9-digit Member ID and 8-digit Family ID with completed Aadhaar e-KYC on samagra.gov.in. Name and birth date must match your educational certificates.
Recent color passport photograph signed by the applicant across the bottom edge. Format: JPG/JPEG under 50 KB – 100 KB. Use our free compressor tool to resize.
Applicant's Aadhaar Card, Voter ID (EPIC), MP Domicile Certificate (मूल निवासी प्रमाण पत्र), Driving License, or family Electricity Bill/Ration Card. Clear scanned PDF under 100–200 KB.
Land records (Khasra, Khatoni, or Misal Bandobast) showing family land in MP on or before 1950 (for SC/ST) or 26 December 1984 (for OBC). Digital copies can be viewed on saara.mp.gov.in or mpbhulekh.gov.in.
Father's, grandfather's, or applicant's primary school admission register entry or Transfer Certificate (TC) mentioning caste and permanent village address.
Standard declaration form affirming that the applicant belongs to the declared notified caste and confirming annual parental income for OBC Non-Creamy Layer determination.
No 1950 or 1984 Land Documents? How to Use Patwari Panchnama (पटवारी पंचनामा)
Many landless or underprivileged families in Madhya Pradesh do not have 70-year-old revenue papers. Under official MP General Administration Department (GAD) circulars:
- Your application cannot be rejected simply because you lack written records from 1950 or 1984.
- You can request a Local Spot Inquiry (मैदानी जांच) by your area's Halka Patwari.
- The Patwari prepares a formal Panchnama (पंचनामा) signed by the Gram Panchayat Sarpanch, Secretary, Ward Councillor, Gram Kotwar, and reputable village/ward elders.
- The Panchnama confirms your family's long-term residency and social standing, allowing the SDO to approve your certificate lawfully.
Rule for Married Women: Father's Lineage Documents Required
In Madhya Pradesh, a woman's caste is determined solely by her birth bloodline, not by marriage:
- A married woman must apply based strictly on her father's caste documents and paternal ancestral address in MP (पिता के नाम एवं मायके के पते से).
- Marriage certificate or husband's identity documents can be attached only to explain the current surname, but they do NOT prove caste.
- Submitting husband's caste proof instead of father's will cause rejection during document verification for MPPSC, MP High Court, and police examinations.
OBC Applicants: Non-Creamy Layer (NCL) Income Rules
To receive OBC reservation in MP state services and educational institutions, candidates must belong to the Non-Creamy Layer:
- Gross annual parental income from non-agricultural and non-salary sources must be below ₹8,00,000 (₹8 Lakhs).
- Income from agricultural land and basic government salary is evaluated as per Central/State DoPT formulas (children of Class I/II officers before age 40 are categorized in the Creamy Layer).
- A valid Income Certificate or family income self-declaration must accompany the application on MP e-District.
